Woods Hits Back at Montgomerie over Retirement Calls

Golf icon dismisses suggestion his career should be over

Woods battling to rediscover form following horrific car crash

Golf legend Tiger Woods has rebuffed calls for him to retire from former world No. 2 Colin Montgomerie ahead of The Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf.

Montgomerie's comments come after Woods has struggled to find his best form since returning from a horrific car accident in 2021 that badly injured his right leg.

Woods has only managed nine official top-10 finishes since his return, leading Montgomerie to suggest that the 15-time major winner should consider hanging up his clubs.

However, Woods has hit back at Montgomerie's comments, saying that he is still competitive and has no plans to retire.

"I've been playing a lot better the last few months," Woods said. "I'm starting to hit the ball well and I'm starting to putt well. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm getting there."

Woods' comments will be a relief to his fans, who have been hoping to see him return to his best form. The Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf will be a major test for Woods, but he will be determined to prove that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
